3. Peace Tree Art
These whimsical, colorful aspen tree paintings are one of my newest series. I call them "Peace Trees". This whimsical tree art is full of magic and mystery. The trees bark is reminiscent of jeweled tattoos. In this whimsical tree art, I wanted to capture some of the magic I feel when I'm in the forest amongst the trees where I feel happy and peaceful. I try to capture a little of the joyful tree spirit in these paintings as the trees dance and sing in the wind. I hope you enjoy this fun, colorful, whimsical tree art!

The Magical Woodland Peace Tree series was begun in 2010 after I had a show at the Black Butte Ranch Lodge in Sisters, Oregon. As I drove up to the Lodge, I could see a beautiful stand of white trees off to your right. One day as I was driving to the Lodge I noticed them in a particularly beautiful light and it stuck in my mind. I didn't know if they were aspen or birch and it didn't really matter because it was their interesting markings on the bark that captured my attention. I imagined that the trees were adorned with jeweled tattoos, each one uniquely shaped and colored. Their tree spirit shined through with these markings. I imagined them standing together in a peaceful community. I wanted to capture these beautifully adorned trees in a painting and soon that is what I was doing. Some of the smaller paintings are studies for larger ones I will do in the future. I'm enjoying painting this new "Peace Tree" series and will be adding more paintings for sale as I create them.
